Abstract

Zika virus is an emerging mosquito-borne virus. It is transmitted to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. Zika virus diagnosis can only be confirmed by laboratory testing for the presence of Zika virus RNA. Pregnancy affected with Zika virus can infectthe fetus results in birth defect, as well as other neurological disorders. Mosquitoes and their breeding sites pose a significant risk factor for Zika virus infection.1 Prevention and control relies on reducing mosquitoes through source reduction and contact between mosquitoes and people.
